- Abstract
- The compound LaSmMnSi has been studied by the Fe probe Mössbauer spectroscopy with the aim to determine magnetic and electronic states of Mn atoms and their changes upon magnetic phase transitions. Mössbauer spectra of the model compound LaSm(MnFe)Si doped with Fe isotope were measured at different temperatures, their fitting and analysis of the obtained hyperfine parameters of different subspectra have been performed. It is shown that the degree of oxygenation of Mn and magnitude of its magnetic moment remain unchanged in the course of the first-order antiferromagnet–ferromagnet transition. The chemical Mn–Si bonds in the compound are stated to be covalent. The angles of deviation of Mn magnetic moments from the -axis and their changes with temperature are determined.
